Adult Crane Fly Photo Shoot

This Mosquito Hawk was found dead by my kids in their bathroom. They saved it for me so I could do some cool macro photography exploration.

These interesting looking creatures remind me of the Mondoshawans of the movie The Fifth Element, remember “Time not important, only life important”?

In any case their official name is Crane Flies, but they have a bunch of nicknames, such as: Mosquito Hawk, Skeeter Eater, Giant Mosquito, Mosquito Eater, May Fly, Whapper, Gallinipper, Gollywhopper, among others.

Other accessories and settings:

The camera equipment was mounted on a Tripod and focus was obtained with a macro focusing rails
A Flashpoint Wave Commander was used as a remote shutter release to prevent trigger motion
The camera was on mirror lock-up shooting mode to prevent motion
The viewfinder eyepiece cup removed and the DK-5 eyepiece cap was attached to prevent light leaks
The SB-R200 Speedlight flash units were mounted on individual tripods off the lens attachment unit
