Thank you Heringer Family of Davis! I found the Eye of Sauron, AKA the Great Eye, looking right at me from a tiny MacBook Pro speaker hole. I guess “Big Brother” is actually watching. ![]() MacBook Pro Speakers iPhone 6S ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Closeup 1:1 Magnification Ratio Nikon D610 + Lester-A-Dine 105mm f/2.8 MACRO 1:1 ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Closeup 4x Nikon D610 + Mitakon Zhongyi SUPER MACRO 1:2.0 20mm ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Closeup 4.5x Nikon D610 + Mitakon Zhongyi SUPER MACRO 1:2.0 20mm ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Macro Closeup 60x Carson MM-300 Microbrite Plus 60x – 120x LED Pocket Microscope + iPhone 6S (Camera+ App) ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Macro Closeup 120x Carson MM-300 Microbrite Plus 60x – 120x LED Pocket Microscope + iPhone 6S (Camera+ App) ![]() Speaker Aluminum Perforation Macro Closeup 120x Carson MM-300 Microbrite Plus 60x – 120x LED Pocket Microscope + iPhone 6S (Camera+ App in Macro Mode) The photo of this gorgeous Caligo Memnon was taken in the live butterfly exhibit in the cloud forest town of Mindo, Ecuador.
El Mariposario de Mindo is a must visit destination for nature, insects & macro photography enthusiasts when visiting Ecuador. This is a single shot, uncropped, taken handheld with natural light. Camera Equipment & Settings: Nikon D610 This Mosquito Hawk was found dead by my kids in their bathroom. They saved it for me so I could do some cool macro photography exploration. These interesting looking creatures remind me of the Mondoshawans of the movie The Fifth Element, remember “Time not important, only life important”? In any case their official name is Crane Flies, but they have a bunch of nicknames, such as: Mosquito Hawk, Skeeter Eater, Giant Mosquito, Mosquito Eater, May Fly, Whapper, Gallinipper, Gollywhopper, among others. Here are the settings recorded to the best of my abilities and the image results: Camera Equipment: Nikon D610 Light: R1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System Camera Equipment: Nikon D610 Lighting: Same as above Other accessories and settings: The camera equipment was mounted on a Tripod and focus was obtained with a macro focusing rails |
